For as long as I can remember, I have always loved to learn. Whether it was playing piano or bass guitar, planting a garden, or playing volleyball-- I wanted to know how to do it. As an adult, the profession of surgery offers a wonderful chance for me to continue to learn, as it is a field where techniques constantly improve. It also provides a chance to learn about and from my patients-- and the best way to learn is to listen: something critical to diagnosis, planning for care, and surgical success.
As a surgeon, I have a great interest in not only treating the immediate medical concern- whether it be involving the gallbladder, breast, colon, skin, hernias, etc. but in doing it with the most minimally invasive technique possible, and with equal attention afterward in patient education and satisfaction. With this in mind, the best way to accomplish these things is to enter into each case with equal measures of thoroughness, positivity, and calmness, which I work hard to do. At all times, I am dedicated to placing the well-being of my patients above any other consideration.
When I am not pursuing my profession, I love to travel, to cook, and I try to keep learning outside the hospital. Having spent my life in the mid-west, I especially enjoy all the outdoor splendor Tucson has to offer.
