Northwest Medical Center offers a number of speech therapy services with a wide variety of techniques and programs designed to help people communicate better. We consider treatment a collaboration: our experienced therapy staff also works with physicians, dietitians and nurses to evaluate patients’ swallowing function and recommend safe feeding tactics when needed.
Northwest Medical Center’s speech therapy program works to help restore speech, language, voice and swallowing skills after a stroke or other neurological event. The program can also help preserve these functions in patients with Parkinson's disease, dementia and other neurological diseases.
Speech therapy can utilize many methods and approaches, including electrical stimulation, oral motor therapy, apraxia therapy and voice therapy.
