Northwest Medical Center Department of Occupational Therapy offers an acute hospital setting for Occupational Therapy Fieldwork students. This setting allows students to gain experience with the adult and geriatric population.
A student will acquire knowledge and practice working in the practice areas of:
The student will learn skills in evaluation and assessment, plan of care development, documentation, treatment strategies, activity modification and discharge planning. We will provide direct supervision with the student, allowing for growth and independence while developing a personal caseload towards the end of the fieldwork experience. During your experience there may be opportunities to observe other settings for a day within the community, such as Outpatient Therapy or Home Health services. There will be several assignments required during this fieldwork that will assist in the development of the student, including an in-service presentation, a case study and fabrication of a splint.
Northwest Medical Center's Department of Occupational Therapy offers 3-5 days-per-week internships to 1-2 students per year for Level I and Level II Fieldwork.
