The nurses working on this unit are specially educated to provide chemotherapy and symptom management for cancer patients. Our staff is assisted in providing support for patients and families by an experienced oncology nurse case manager and a social worker whose focus is also oncology. We consider patient and family education as an important part of the nurse's duties. We also have several nurses certified in patient massage for symptom management. Reduction in pain, anxiety and dyspnea has been noted in patients receiving this therapy.

A nurse case manager experienced in neurological surgeries and disorders is stationed on this unit. The case manager provides support, education and community resources for the staff and neurological patients. The nurses from the neuro unit are also used hospital-wide as resources for the Stroke Team which evaluates all inpatients suspected of having an acute stroke.

Telemetry Unit

Our 50-bed progressive telemetry unit cares for patients who need to have cardiac monitoring and specialized cardiac care. The unit is a combination of private and semi-private rooms.
