I believe at the heart of patient-centered care is physician/patient interactions. That being said, I strive to create a spirit of collaboration with my patients. As I formulate a treatment plan aimed at providing the best solution to their vascular problems, patient input is constantly solicited. I am determined to make a difference in the life of my patients and our collaboration often helps achieve the best outcomes.
The introduction of minimally-invasive techniques for angioplasty and stenting has expanded treatment options in virtually all areas of vascular disease. I’ve integrated these new endovascular techniques with my traditional surgical skills and this combination places me in a unique position to manage complex vascular problems. As a former Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery at the University of Arizona, I enjoyed being a part of a transitional generation of specialists who sharply incorporate catheter skills and surgical tools in their contemporary vascular practice for improved patient satisfaction and outcomes.
I have special interests in limb salvage procedures and the overall management of peripheral arterial disease, carotid disease and stroke prevention, abdominal aortic aneurysms, angioaccess for hemodialysis, and the treatment of varicose veins using radiofrequency ablation and laser therapy.
While I no longer practice my favorite sports after a back injury, I am always delighted to be able to participate in competitive ballroom dancing, and above all, spend an always marvelous time with my wife Catherine, an obstetrician-gynecologist and our two young adult children, Eric and Alexandra.
